Alles Moet Weg

The triangular sculpture is set into motion by three musicians who play the air instruments connected to the red balloons (see video below). The shape of each pipe is based on an economical chart, representing the sky-is-the-limit periode of three years in advance of a historic economical crisis: Tulip mania (1637), Wall Street Crash (1929), Financial Crisis (2008). After the performance the instruments form the installation 'Only the Way Up'.

Every musician plays an excerpt in loops of a musical piece from the corresponding year of crisis: Poesia D’incerto (Benedetto Ferrari), Singing in the Rain (Arthur Freed, Nacio Herb Brown) en Viva La Vida (Coldplay). The audible rythmic breathing determine the size of he balloon and the final shape of the installation. Subsequently the instrument is disconnected by the musician and secured to the wall. The resulting new complex structure of the sculpture will very slowly return to its original shape during the rest of the exhibition.
